Editorial Policies

Peer Review Process

The Journal of the Ceylon College of Physicians (J of Cey Coll of Phy) adopts a double-blind peer review process to assess the quality, originality and validity of a manuscript before it is published in the journal. Editors will assess all submissions to decide whether they meet the criteria for submission and the suitability for the journal. Selected manuscripts will be sent anonymously to two reviewers decided by the editors to make recommendations. The identities of both reviewers and authors are concealed from each other throughout the review process. The reviewers’ decisions will be conveyed to the authors along with suggested revisions. Revised manuscripts will be sent back to the same reviewers. Editorial Board meetings are held once in two months and all the submitted manuscripts and the reviewer’s recommendations are discussed. The final decision on the suitability of the manuscript for publication is decided by the Editorial Board.
Invited editorials and invited articles are not sent for external peer review but are reviewed by the Editors. Original research articles authored by a member of the journal’s editorial team are independently peer reviewed. When an editor is an author of a manuscript the peer review process is handled by the co-editor.
The average time taken for review process is 3 months. The time given for authors to submit the revised manuscript after peer review process is 6 weeks. Appeals or other complaints regarding peer review will be considered by the Editorial Board.

Editorial process
All accepted submissions are copyedited by the editors to make sure the language is clear. All major queries will be sent back to the authors to resolve prior to sending it to the reviewers.
